Real but Unlikely Sounding Rap Names, Installment Three

1. Prince Vince
2. Greyson and Jaysun
3. White Magic

And a preview of my interview with Da Beatminerz (Mr. Walt and DJ Evil Dee), to be included in The Greenwood Guide to American Regional Hip Hop:

Mr. Walt: Bushwick had its neighborhood stars. We had Kid Jordache. We had a crew called QPSL. Over on Bushwick Avenue there was another crew called Universal Sounds. These were real hip hop names: Universal Sounds, Grand Slam, these were hardcore names. When you hear Universal Sounds, you just know it’s going to be something.

Evil Dee: It just sounds like I gotta be there, yo!

Mr. Walt: The Disco Stompers – those were great names.

Also, I have a guest blog up at The Millions: Best Reads of 2008
